We're excited to announce our partnership with La Salle High School in Union Gap, Washington, as recently featured in the Yakima Herald. Through a grant from the DeBruce Foundation, Skillsline is helping La Salle teachers integrate durable skills training into their curriculum for over 200 students at this Catholic school.
"This provides us with a way to be very intentional about teaching these soft skills across the board," said Cody Lamb, a teacher and football coach at La Salle who is part of the team implementing the program.
The partnership focuses on delivering Skillsline's 10- to 15-minute microlessons teaching essential workplace competencies such as communication, collaboration, mindfulness, and critical thinking. As our co-founder Courtney Reilly explained in the article, "the goal is to give students the ability to change their mindset and achieve their goals."
These durable skills align perfectly with La Salle's work-based learning program, where students gain hands-on experience in industries they're interested in. "These human skills are enduring, they keep going, they're durable across industries," Lamb noted in the feature.
We're looking forward to expanding our collaborations in the Yakima Valley and continuing to bridge the gap between education and workplace readiness.
